Description:

Journey to a Billion Suns is our new fulldome show produced in cooperation with the European Space Agency ESA and planetariums in the world. It is about the exciting story of measuring the distance to the stars and understanding our Universe.

For ages, 3D measurements in space have been impossible and our Milky Way has remained a real mystery. Today satellites can measure star distances at incredible accuracy and make us understand the structure and size of our home galaxy. But how and why did technology and science come so far? This fulldome show will take us through time and history, explain basic technologies of star mapping and take us on a fascinating journey along the numerous features of our Milky Way. A breath taking adventure, linked to the launch of the European Gaia mission end 2013.

The project has started in 2012 with encouraging planetariums to join in. Since then, more than 30 planetariums in many different countries have signed up and, together with ESA, procured the necessary budget. Production has begun in January 2013 and will be finished in November, delivering a new, high quality 4K show to the planetarium world.

Important!

Show is subsidizd by European Space Agency (ESA) for all types of planetariums. Fulldome Film Society is ESA's partner in distribution.

The show is distributed in two versions - full and cut. The short version is about 30 min.
